You will be picked up at 08:00 by a private van/mini bus and we depart for Ba Be National Park. On the way there stopping in Thai Nguyen city to visit the Museum of the Culture – the second largest museum in Vietnam for ethnic minorities followed by a lunch in a street restaurant. We then continue our drive to Ba Be National Park. Once arrive at our homestay in Ba Be Lake, we will visit Hua Ma cave by bike or car with our tour guide before spending the night with our lovely host.
After enjoying breakfast on the terrace, you will take a short drive to the house owner’s boat, which will take you through the three lakes which make up Ba Be and up the Nang River Dong Puong, an enormous tunnel (300m long by 30m high) which stretches through the limestone mountain. We will then trek from Puong Cave to Cam Ha village where you can observe the peaceful life of the Tay people amongst the green rice fields. The boat will then venture upriver to the small village of Hua Tang, the quintessential simple and authentic ethnic minority village! You will have lunch in a local house alongside the river. After lunch, you will take a short walk (20 m) through the jungle takes you to the very scenic Dau Dang Waterfalls. You can then continue the trail to arrive in a large river bend full of colourful local life, with a small harbour. Here the locals unload goods onto their boats to travel across the lake. You will return by boat for another delightful evening.
After breakfast, you will set off to the district of Trung Khanh, close to Vietnam’s northern border with China. Today will take you to one of the most incredible natural wonders in the north of Vietnam, Ban Gioc Waterfall. The breathtaking 300-meter wide cascade sits on the border between China and Vietnam in amongst the mountainous landscape of the northern regions. Here you can relax in bask in the wonder of nature with plenty of time to take some photos. You will also have the chance to board a bamboo boat which will take to the very edge of Vietnam, so close that you can actually touch China! After enjoying the waterfall, you will venture underground the magical Nguom Ngao Cave to discover the rock formations which been carved out by erosion.
Next, you will then hike to Phat Tich Temple which as well as giving a great insight into the local beliefs, offers unrivalled views of Ban Gioc Waterfall with China in the background. You will then travel to Cao Bang where you will spend the night in a Hotel.
At around 08:00am we drive to the border town Lang Son, where lunch will be served. In the afternoon, we will visit the beautiful Tam Thanh caves in the town and the local market of Dong Kinh before driving to Hanoi. We will be back to Hanoi around 17:00.
