Leaning against the mountain, looking down on Ba Be Lake, among beautiful stilt houses is Pac Ngoi village – Tay’s cultural beauty – an interesting destination for tourists coming to Ba Be National Park.

Three branches of Pé Lầm, Pé Lù and Pé Lèng rivers form three ponds among limestone mountains and green forests, Ba Be is a peaceful place among mountains and trees, beautiful and imbued with myths. Ba Be Lake is the ancient water of Tay people. They eat and live, have fun with the lake. From Ba Be National Park administrative center, about 5 km of motorway along the edge of Ba Be Lake is the Pac Ngoi village.

Pac Ngoi is a cultural tourism village, in Nam Mau commune, Ba Be district. It is the stilt house village of Tay ethnic group on the bank of Lèng river close to Ba Be Lake. More than 70 houses with ancient architecture of ethnic minority style leaning on the back of the mountain create a beautiful picture. Pac Ngoi village is one of the few villages that still preserves the traditional customs and habits of the Tay ethnic.

Coming to Pac Ngoi village, visitors can not only immerse themselves in the beautiful natural scenery but also discover and experience interesting things in the daily life of the community here. Ancient stilt houses with ages of tens to hundreds of years are always preserved and embellished as a testament to the Tay culture’s typical culture.

Tay’s stilt houses are made up of four to seven rows of supporting columns, creating two distinct areas. The upper part of the floor serves as a reception place, a stove and a sleeping area, the lower part of the floor is a place to store farm tools and livestock cages. Usually the roof has two or four roof structures made of straw leaves, palm leaves. This type of tile roofing is very popular in Ba Be.

Entering the house beside the flickering fire is an image of indigenous people telling each other daily life stories. Visitors can also sit with the people beside the fire to hear the stories of Ba Be myths and enjoy unique dishes in Pac Ngoi village such as grilled goat meat with roasted sticky rice, grilled fish, fermented shrimp…

After enjoying the typical dishes of the village, visitors can relax and immerse themselves in the melody of the traditional songs, smooth and subtle, bearing cultural identities of the Tay ethnic boys and girls. It will definitely attach every tourist coming here

Coming here, living with the locals, tourists also get to admire the artifacts expressing clearly the daily life of the indigenous Tay ethnic people such as fishing nets, bamboo and rattan, cajuput, local music instruments, special instruments that haved adored countless tourists.
