The ethnic people here pass by tradition a legend of the Twin mountain that is very romantic. The story recounts that in the past, there was a Hmong man named Tuan Tu, who had a good ability to blow mouth organ. The sound of the mouth organ sounded like a stream, chattering like the sound of forest birds, and ups and downs, making a heavenly fairy named Hoa Dao sensational. Having fallen in love with the boy, the beautiful fairy Hoa Dao escaped to stay in this land and married the boy Tuan Tu, they gave birth to a pretty boy. God was extremely angry and asked her to return to heaven when knowing that she fled to earth, married to a mortal. Hoa Dao cried and implored to stay here to support her child but no one agreed with her request. Because of loving her husband and child, the beautiful fairy left her breasts in this world to breastfeed. Later when her child was grown up, those breasts turned into two mountains shaped like milk breasts, that people still called it Twin Mountain or Co Tien Mountain.
According to legend, the milk flow of the fairy Hoa Dao has made the climate of Quan Ba and Tam Son extremely cool, and became an extremely prosperous land with a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Her tears formed the dreamy, green Mieu river winding in the cat ears stone area and surrounding the land behind the legendary heaven gate.
Twin Mountain – a beautiful landscape of Ha Giang is also associated with another legend. It is a story about a giant boy falling in love with a beautiful daughter in Tam Son. To come to the girl he loves, the giant boy had to overcome many high mountains and deep streams. The boy did not hesitate to cope with the challenge of the girl’s family that if he could prevent the Dong Ha River from flowing back into the valley where the girl’s family lived, the girl’s family would agree to let him be their son-in-law.
In order to buld the flow to prevent Dong Ha River from returning to the valley, the giant boy took many days and nights to take mountains to here. One day, when he was working hard to take mountains, the boy received news of his mother’s death. Because the boy was too rushed to run to go into mourning, the giant boy’s shoulder pole and hangers hit a high mountain and were broken. Waiting for the lover to return, the faithful girl leaned back against the giant boy’s shoulder pole and hangers. And then she became a mountain to wait for the boy to return.
According to legend, the giant boy’s shoulder pole and hangers were broken and turned into the “Phia Poi” mountain range, which is also known as the mountain ranger of giant man’s shoulder pole and hangers. 9 deep lakes in the villages of Tham Ri, Tham Lau, Tham Nam Dam, Tham Lung Pet, Sum Pu, Tham Nan, … are the hurried steps of the giant.
